Hello there.

My name is Jay and I'm new to this most informative forum!

I collect various Third Reich bits and pieces and recently I have purchased a lovely German cross in gold.

The said medal came with some history about the chap that was awarded it.

It belonged to Karl Conen who was one of only two survivors when his u-boat, U-460, was sunk by American planes in 1943.

I believe he was picked up by U-264 which he was refuelling at the time but that is it!

What I would love to know is more about him, such as what U-boat he served on after his was sunk, what he did for the rest of the war and whether he survived etc.
