Hello Jay,

Be very cautious about purchasing medals with a history (providence) unless the medal came from a reputable dealer or a family member of the recipient. There are a huge number of fakes German medals, daggers, and etc., that are being sold as originals. You may want to go to one of the German medal collectors web sites and ask a member to upload photos of your medal to verify it's authenticity...
