It may be a little late to chip in, considering this is affair is just about wrapped up, but none the less... I show that the U-2348 was a type XXIII. If you look at the sonar scan of the suspected sub and compare it to a schematic of a XXIII, you can see that the hull shapes are not the same. They are different enough that there is no way that the scan could be a XXIII, and therefore the U-2348.

I would love it to be a U-Boat, but I don't think there is anyway it could be...
