<HTML>I am just curious about something I used to think were simply errors in typing, but they seem to occur too frequently for that to be the explanation.
Why do many forum writers use back-slashes with a contraction or with a possessive?
Examples:
would not = (USA, contraction) wouldn\'t = (forum) wouldn\\\'t
(USA, possessive) Doenitz\'s U-boats = (forum) Doenitz\\\'s U-boats
Is this a standard practice in non-US countries??
Just curious why the \" \\ \" would be needed....
Thanks,
Craig </HTML>
