this is a documentary about K 129 and USS Scorpion headlined “trading blows”.

What is interesting that it seems that Tom Clancy took these incidents to make up his story “Hunt for Red October”.
A lot of exciting speculations, K 129 was supposed to be a rebel boat on its way to the USA to fire an atomic missile at the US-homeland. On the other hand the USS Scorpion was supposed to be sunk as revenge by the Sowjets, because they believed K 129 was sunk by a US submarine. Very tantalizing story with comments of all kind of American experts.
