I missed one - the French Gustave Zede was 48.5 meters long and was stricken in 1909. The British and Japanese \"C\" class submarines of 1906-1910 were 43.3 meters long and single shafted. The French Farfadet class was 41.3 meters long. There was a lot of other early single shafted subs of over 30 meters length. The largest German single -shafted boats of that era are UCI type at 34 meters in length.

In the world war II era, German Type XXIII was just under 35 meters long and had one shaft. The Soviets build a lot of single shafted boats from 1933 through 1941 (Series VI and XII and variants); the largest, teh Series XIIbis were 44.5 meters long.

I\'ve got to ask, where is this boat you are trying to identify located??
