U-668 was towed out from Lisahally on 31 December 1945 by HMS BLENCATHRA (L 24) for destruction under Operation Deadlight. The tow parted on 1 January 1946 .

U-668 was sunk by gunfire from HMS ONSLAUGHT (G 04) that day at 5603N x 0924W.
