Hi, my father was aboard HMS Hargood that escorted U-Boats from Wilhelmshaven to Lisahally.

The U-Boats in the flotilla were: U-3008, U-2356, U-2351, U-2341, U-2336 & U-883.

I see that U-3008 ended up serving with the US Navy.

I saw from the files that the press and Naval Attaches were invited to watch the spectacle of the U-Boats being destroyed, as you know it did not go to plan. There is a note that the Daily Express photographer complained there was nothing to see... just as there was a spectacular explosion when he was facing the wrong way.

the Russian Naval Attaches declined the invitation saying they were too busy to attend.

I believe the photos from HMS Hargood were taken by my father as he was a keen photographer,
