The photos linked in the betasom forum show the sinking of U-751 on 17 July 1942.

Some time ago I researched the air attacks carried out in the Bay of Biscay in the days after U-578 went missing after leaving St. Nazaire on 6 August 1942. I found the following air attacks from 6 to 13 August:

06/1508 45.40N/05.20W Wellington P/311 dropped 6 D/Cs > Attack on U-575 (06/1515 BF8384)
06/1743 46.40N/10.27W Whitley V/502 dropped 4 D/Cs > possibly U-594?
07/1411 45.57N/14.23W Catalina B/202 dropped 6 D/Cs
09/1422 44.36N/12.10W Wellington T/304 (details?) > possibly U-653?
10/1545 46.15N/12.52W Lancaster B/61 dropped 6 D/Cs > Attack on U-552 (10/1643 BE6565)
10/1723 45.59N/07.44W Wellington H/311 dropped 6 D/Cs > Attack on U-135 (10/1825 BF4941)
11/1530 46.02N/12.19W Lancaster S/61 dropped 6 D/Cs
11/1605 45.12N/12.36W Sunderland U/10 dropped 2 D/Cs > Attack on U-373 (11/1705 BE9296)
11/1610 46.05N/07.25W Wellington V/304 dropped 6 D/Cs > Attack on U-552 (11/1710 BF4938)
12/0900 46.20N/06.30W Wellington W/311 dropped 6 D/Cs > Attack on U-406 (12/1000 BF4588)
13/0949 46.08N/13.28W Wellington R/304 dropped 6 D/Cs > possibly U-607?

There were probably more air attacks during this week, especially on 9 August, but I did not check the ORBs of the RAF Squadrons on patrol over the Bay of Biscay yet. Also the attacks possibly carried out on U-594, U-607 and U-653 are not yet confirmed from the KTBs.

In my opinion none of the attacks above could explain the loss of MOROSINI, but maybe Catalina B/202 had attacked her on 7 August?
