U-Boat near convoy SL 115

On 14 July 1942 the Italian submarine "Pietro Calvi" was sunk by HMS Lulworth while attempting to approach convoy SL 115. In a British relation, I read that when the Lulworth was sent to investigate the contact, she found, before the "Calvi", a German U-Boat that quickly disappeared, and that was also seen by the "Calvi" crew, passing some 1000 yards away. Later, while the "Calvi" was already surfaced and sinking, the escorting ships depth-charged also this U-Boat, I presume without sinking her and maybe also without damaging her. Does anyone know which U-Boat could have been this?
