Supply Boat Doctors

Hello everyone, I have just recently read a book titled "The Milk Cows" about the U boat tankers by John F White.

I had heard of the resupply boats carrying doctors on board to treat sick or injured crewmen of other U boats. However what I am not so clear on was where was this accomplished? Did the U boats doctor have a small infirmary on board and if so where was it located?
