One example for that version:
Wrecksite.eu gives this information:
"On 22/06/1942 the Grimsby steam trawler BROMELIA (GY113) foundered and was lost following an explosion, probably caused by a mine. The incident was witnessed by a German U-boat. Thirteen crew lost.
ref. used:
Tony Lofthouse, Gilbert Mayes, David Newton, Michael Thompson, Cochrane Shipbuilders Vol I : 1884 - 1914

So only a second hand source that cites another secondary source from which we don't know if they used primary sources (at least until someone can reveal this because he has that book).
