Introduction and question re La Rochelle

Hi, my name is Grant and I have been a collector of British military medals for many years, specifically to the Royal Navy. I have used this excellent website for research over the years for information relating to U-boat engagements to some of my ‘Men’.

Among the collection I have a very interesting DSM (U-252) and MiD (U-414) group to an engineer on HMS Vetch who was part or Fredrick ‘Jonny’ Walkers 36th Escort Group and a very nice BEM (U-100) group to HMS Vanoc.

Having just returned from a second year’s holiday in the La Rochelle area of France where I visited the Le Bunker/U-boat museum (highly recommended), I now feel my research and future acquisitions focusing on engagements with U-boats at La Rochelle.

So, my question is –

Is there a way of finding a list of the U-boats that were part of the 3rd U-boat flotilla stationed/based at the La Rochelle U-boat pens?

From reading this website it appears that U-boats moved around and quite a lot so I am unsure if this is a reasonable task?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Grant
