U 108 was refuelled on 7.11. in the evening but because of technical problems with the hoses most fuel went into the sea. At 22:20 this was abandoned and retried the next morning. The problems commenced and then refuelling was stoped after a radio message from BdU was received that ordered all uboats with sufficient fuel to proceed immediately to the african coast to attack landing forces there.
No amount of fuel successfully transfered is mentioned in the war diaries of U 509 and U 108.
