Hello,

Yesterday, the Belgian media stated that the wreck of a rare German submarine from the Second World War was found on the 18th of April, in the Skagerrak.
« This is a special find, said the director of the museum of sea wars on Jutland at the press bureau Ritzau, because it was the most modern submarine that the Germans built in the war. »

The U-boat (probably U-3523) was sunk by a British B-24 Liberator of 86 Squadron/G RAF on 6 May 1945 - two days before the end of the Second World War in Europe - according to the museum. All 58 crewmen were lost.
Only two of such submarines were deployed during the war, the other (U-2540) is lead down in Bremerhaven as a museum.

Plans to lift up the U-boat at 123 meters depth, are not available, despite many rumors that there may be very valuable things on board. Other scientists assume that VIPs could have tried to escape with this sub a few days before the capitulation.

Regards,
Freddy.
