Hello Brian,

The new design Schnorchel was completed by the Norwegian's after WWII on U-995 (Kaura S 309). The new design Schnorchel has an exhaust pipe extending above the deck near the bridge/tower on the Starboard side. There was an intake bend that extended from the Schnorchel fulcrum and created a blister on the port side of the outer hull casing for the intake line. The origin Schnorchel design had the intake pipe attached to the bridge on the port side. I hope this helps...
