You can setup a “signature” that the forum software will automatically add to the end of each post you make. It isn’t actually your signature it is just one or more lines of information you would like automatically added to the bottom of all of your posts. For example:

Best wishes,

John Doe
Chief Historian - British Submarine Association

My signature at the bottom of this post is:

forum@uboat.net

Once you set up a signature you control which posts it is added to by checking or unchecking the box next to: Add my signature to this message at the top of the New Topic and Reply form.

Setting up or changing a signature used to be done through “Control Center” like the rest of your account profile settings (preferences, e-mail address changes, password changes etc.) however we have had to deactivate signature maintenance (but nothing else) in Control Center due to spam problems. Turns out it isn’t subject to the same spam countermeasures that the main body of a post is.

The Forum software development folks have been notified of the problem & hopefully it will be fixed in a future release of their software.

Meanwhile you can setup a new signature or change your existing signature by simply replying to this post with your desired signature information.

We will be watching for any reply to this post & will promptly perform the operation for you. Then we will delete your reply to this post.

If you already have a signature set up it will continue working as it always has. You only need to reply to this post if you want to change your existing signature.

Sorry in advance for any inconvenience. This is the world we live in now.
