Thanks Phil, I have found very similar items and asked some dealers and a sextant expert - still unsure though. One dealer suggested it was more likely Luftwaffe, however I the instructions are clearly printed deutsche seewarte. The very similar ones I have seen are described as u-boat equipment but interested in any further ideas from those that know more.
