Uboat clock? World War 1?

Hello one and all,

I'm after a bit of help. I inherited, what I believe to be, a brass bulkhead clock and stopwatch from a German vessel of some description. They both carry Kriegsmarine insignia but not swastika so I think they probably date from WW1.

The clock is about 20cm in diameter with a brass case and a grey/silver face. There's a crown and M on the left of centre, the number 988 on the right of centre, and the maker's name - Franz Happe Kiel lower centre.

The stopwatch has a crown and M on the rear of the case and the Makers name is Adolf Peters of Kiel.

Can anybody shed any light about what exactly they are and what type of vessel they might be from?

Thanks

Tim
