Hi John,

The 10 torpedos fired on Aug.18 (number and times) are as primary records documented in U553's KTB and in her torpedo firing reports that are available in [historisches-marinearchiv.de] (except for the 10th fired at 0915 from tube V for which no firing report seems to have survived).

U553 did, of course, herself not identify any of the vessels supposedly hit (*) in its attacks, so where does the identification of the BLANKAHOLM come from as the vessel torpedoed in the 05:59 attack?

For instance ASS and uboat.net, both also most respected sites, say the BLANKAHOLM was hit in the 09:13 attack.
I hope for some 1942 US Navy, Admiralty or similar record before rewriting the attack on TAW.13 in [historisches-marinearchiv.de].

(*) Ships supposedly hit:
05:59: 2 freighters
06:03: 1 tanker
06:06: 1 freighter
09:13: 3 freighters (2 sunk + 1 last seen settling aft)
09:15: 0
