There is much information and detail, gleaned from original and contemporary documentary sources, concerning HMS Fitzroy's crew recolections, U-826 and her commander Ktlt Lubcke, and the entire narrative of the Loch Eriboll surrenders in the updated and revised second edition of the book 'The Grey Wolves of Eriboll' (ISBN 978-184995-165-4), Whittles Publishing, Dunbeath, Caithness. The book is now also available as a kindle edition.
Also covered are Operations Pledge, Commonwealth and Deadlight, and the erroneous supposed U-boat 'surrenders' in Ulster, in each of which U-826 participated.
There are a number of contemporary Admiralty monochrome photo images of HMS Fitzroy and of U-826 taken in Loch Eriboll at the time of the surrender included in the book.
Hope this helps to complete the detail of your grandfather's end of wartime experiences.
