Hi Debbie, I have a copy of the book 'Will Not We Fear' by Warren & Benson 1961, although there are copies still on sale on Amazon. This book tells the Story of Seals last patrol, capture and fate of her survivors. You were right after transfer from Kiel they were sent to Poland at POW camp Stalag XXA, this being an old fort dating back to 1382. as you can imagine the conditions were appalling and not much food available. It was here one Petty Officer with a soldier escaped only for him to be shot and killed after they had reached a border with Russia. In early 1941, now with more naval POW's the Germans opened a camp in Germany between Hamburg and Bremen, Marlag, Sandbostel. Here they stayed until June 19th when the ratings were sent to another camp at Westertimke some twenty miles away, it was here the officers were segregated from the ratings who now at another camp, Stalag VIIIB at Lomsdorf were detailed work duties in the building of factories at Silesia. There were two more of Seal crew to escape, Artificers lister and Hammond who after some nervous moments did finally reach England. John
