Hello Mr Martin,

Thank you for responding to my post, I do appreciate it, and thanks for the book recommendation. I went straight to Ebay and bought a used hardback copy. I look forward to reading it when it arrives in a couple of weeks.

Jak Mallman was a Chief machinist. What a bizarre and tragic way to die - thirteenth tour ! My younger brother William, was a Royal Navy "tiff" for over 20 years. He was a chief petty officer /artificer - and says he was "in charge of the engines". The RN transferred him from a guided missile destroyer and put him in charge of the engines on HMS Invincible during the Falklands War.

Thanks again for your response and recommendation Mr Martin.

What a wonderful site, I'm so glad I found it.

Regards,

Frank Travell
