Dear,

Another possibility is to go to [historisches-marinearchiv.de]

In the search form select
- as EVENT "all attacks",
- in the field REFERENTIE you enter a + sign (which marks a vessel sunk, when just damaged there would be an x),
- in SQUARE you enter the (sub-) square for which you desire to obtain the sinkings that took place in it.

The result is a list of sinkings in the selected square. Adding up the tonnage is for you to do, as is the selection of the squares for which you desire to obtain the information.

To repeat the exercise for another square, tap the 'REFINE SEARCH' button which brings you back to the basic search form, and change the entry SQUARE into the second grid for which you want the data.

If you want to obtain the data by year, then use in the search mask the fields to either specify a date (just a year will do) or a period (from - till).

Although a lot is published about the uboat war, sometimes a little elbow grease is still required to obtain information looked for :-)

Success!
Regards,
Walter
