Director of U-571 claims Uboat men were most nazi

I was listening to the directors commentary on the DVD of U-571; Jonathan Mostow the director said that uboat men were the most nazi of them all. Although I am certainly NOT a Nazi sympathizer I think the record needs to be set straight. Uboat men were not even allowed to have a membership in ANY party while they were active! The director claims that it was completely Voluntary......WRONG! They were drafted. It appears to me that Mr. Mostow did not have all of his facts straight when he did the commentary!!!!
