<HTML>U-571 is a good action movie, with great special effects and a taught plot.

It is not a submarine movie. It is an action movie that takes place in a submarine. The difference is that the action is too contrived, grossly innacurate historically, and implausible to be a true sub movie.

I don\'t demand documentary like accuracy (though iot can be done successfully - look at Cameron\'s Titanic) but this was so silly that anyone who knows anything about subs was wincing or laughing.

But that is Hollywood. Top Gun is not a Navy pilot training film. Mission to Mars was just as silly.

Well, maybe Holywood $uccess will lead to other sub movies that will be enjoyable for sub buffs as well as the general public. It can be done.
