This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.

<HTML>What about a movie like \'Bridge on the River Kwai\"?
Many of the survivors of the Thailand-Burma railway are deepedly offended by the their portrayal in that movie. The image of elitist British solders following a colonel collaborating with the Japanese didn\'t strike them as Truthful. No one knows the suffering that happenend there. But the railway does attract tourists that see the Bridge that was made famous by that movie. I would ask those tourists if they knew what really happend on that railway. The beatings, the torture, and the deaths are all unmentioned in traditionial education (at least here in the U.S.). And yet this movie has become the public record about what happend there. Maybe, U-571 could reach similar status.
I put the question out.
How much history do you sell out for entairtainment?
