<HTML>The standing order was to sink ships. Damaged ships would be towed to harbour, repaired and used again by the Allied. So that\'s why the tanker had to be \'finished off.\'

Why use an expensive torpedo and not try a couple of shots with the deck gun? Maybe the use of the deckgun at night, the boat clearly visible against the burning ship, was considered too risky by der Alte.</HTML>
