You could call that the discovery of the year, taking into account where you are and you found the book!!!
The book is the personal account of Bucheims' experiences on board U-96, so on its own it is a very good book to read. You'll think it's boring especially during those long eventless patrol days or during the storm, but that's exactly how it was.
The movie is so far the best U-boat movie ever, Petersen did a superb job.
I'd say enjoy the book as a WWII document and watch the moovie again as the visual version of it.
