<HTML>Dear Meg,
I always like reading your comment. In this topic too. What I ment with the comments I made on Herr Buchheim was that ofcourse he was not able to actual do something in the events on the attacks on Hitler. But I ment that from that day on he should have known that there was a force within Germany that did not stand aside letting things happen. Yet he chooses to stay in the exact place and doing the exact things his "employer" wants him to do. Only to state in his books AFTER the war that he never liked what happened with the men of the U-bootarm. Do not forget that within the ranks of surviving crewmen there is little to none sympathy for Herr Buchheim. They knew what real motivation of Herr Buchheim was writing the books after the war. I do not say that his opinion is not correct I only question his motivations he so broadly states in most of his writings. It is so very easy to say "See, I knew it al along and I always opposed it" (afterwards)But it did not hinder me to continue my "work" for my boss(the Reichspropagandaministerium or whatever they called it)
Kind regards
