Dear Herr Kummrow, your note brings to mind the many photos of the returning crews where they hoist a round of Beck's. As I enjoy a Beck's in the States from time to time, I feel a bit of camaraderie with them. Oddly enough, it does not seem that Beck's remains very popular in Deutschland?
I say this because I visited Munchen just before this past Christmas and while I sampled quite a number of Biergaerten, including "Der Alte", the Hofbrauhaus, I don't recall ever seeing a Beck's. I realize many Biergaerten serve primarily their own Bier. Is Beck's still a popular bier?
Gerard
PS. I agree that it would not do for the crew to be sipping a half Martini on return from patrol.
