<HTML>hi all
first i agree with you "das boot" is a cool movie , i dont know if it was made to be as realistic as possible , or it simply happend sort of by accident
i can understand why you diss movies like u-571 because they are so far from the truth , but still i think they made it more as a action movie rather than a realistic description of the uboat an intelligence war. the thing with "based on a real event" i think is a mere pr thing.
i allso agree with you that a movie based on real life war patrol would be totaly cool and i´m not in a singel second in doubt that that alone could carry a first class kick ass action movie . then why don´t they do it? i think it´s because they i.e. hollywood is afraid that someone would accause them of glorryfieng the nazi kriegsmarine , true that it's a long time ago but it would be a first class head line for the gutter press.
now let's wait an see if the movie "in enemy hands" is a new version of "u-571" or "das boot" , i would prefer the latter
