<HTML>Hi Annox,
There's a scene in the TV version when the boat is sitting on the bottom of the strait and Hinrich is taking care of Kriechbaum. Kriechbaum mumbles "Mama." This always gets to me because people near death often return to being a little child (so they say, and so I have found to be true) and it reminds us of how many of these young men died before their time. To me it underscores how senseless and tragic all wars are. (The fact that, in the movie, Kriechbaum seems to survive and in real life they all did, doesn't undercut the power of the scene for me.)
Regards, and I hope this WILL be a good year for you!
