<HTML>It doesn't hurt to remember that SD radar wasn't particularly effective, with a useful range of only about six miles, and no ability to localize a contact. It could tell you there was a possible plane four miles away, but you still had to rely on a lookout for figure out what direction it was coming from.
The first really effective air search radar was the SV type, but the war was over by the time that came into service.
