You are completely missing the point. Whether or not it happened many, especially the U-boot vets, simply don't want to see their officers depicted that way. If it did happen it would have been an aberration. Both Doenitz and Raeder were very strict about the way their officers conducted themselves in public so I seriously doubt that it really happened as depicted. There is something called "conduct unbecoming to an officer" in most every countries' military and getting nailed for it is a serious problem. For example Reinhard Heydrich was dismissed from the navy for a minor infraction in his personal life.
I guess you have to have served to understand the concept of having pride in your service.
