<HTML>Hi, Stefan,
I think I've heard that story about the young cadet before--was it from you or is it in a book?
While I've never "served" in the sense Ken means, I do know what it's like to be part of a group of which one is proud--in this case, a theatrical company--and naturally one does not like untrue depictions of behavior by fellow-members. However, as you point out, there is ample evidence that the U-Boat officers did get pretty wild on occasion. Who can blame them? At least they were just damaging property, as opposed to wiping out villages.
Beste Grüße,
Meg</HTML>
