<HTML>Hi all
One of the best books I've come accros on U-Boats is 'The Laconia Incident'. This book is non fiction and tells the story from both sides. It probably blows out of the water any notion that all U-Boat commanders were Nazi murderers but seems to reinforce the opinion that Americans shoot first and ask questions later. No way could they be excused bombing a U-boat crowded with civilians and sporting a red cross, having already received a plain language message asking for help rescuing survivors. Saw a documentary on Discovery a while back where an Englishman, who had survived the sinking when he was a lad, said he had nothing but the greatest admiration for Hartenstien(the U-Boat commander) and that he had given him back his life. He could never thank him of vcourse as with so many others Hartenstien lost his life shortly after. This could be made into a great film but probably never will. If you haven't read the book I'd recomend it to anyone, it's a great read
Regards
