<HTML>Hi
the A/C involved looked, flew away, radio'd base who knew of the rescue operation, came back and dropped some bombs which missed the sub by the way. The point here being that someone knew the sub was on a rescue mission but still told the pilot to bomb it, can't blame him for doing that. All sorts of possibles, what if the sub sank a load more ships and killed their crews? The sinking of this ship resulted in the 'Laconia order' not to rescue crews, later modified to an order to shoot shipwrecked crews at Nuremberg. This is of course the simplistic view of what happened to Doenitz. I still think the Laconia Incident would make a great film.</HTML>
