The movie you must be referring to is "MURPHY'S WAR" with
Peter O'Toole - filmed 1969-1970 in the Amazon River near Venezuela. Peter O'Toole was just an Irish seaman, not the captain of the torpedoed british merchantman.
The "U-boat" used in the film was the former USS TILEFISH (SS-307) which was sold to the Venezuelan government on 12/1/60, after 17 years service to her country. It was known as the ARV Carite, in the Venezuelan Navy, and was decommissioned on
1/28/77.
If you think that looked like a German U-boat...........
You also wrote: "Last but not least the U-575 movie where there
was also a similar scene."
There never was a movie titled U-575..........How about "U-571"?
