Hey Meg!

I nearly read every single book I could get: Das Boot, Die Festung, der Abschied and his trilogy (U-Boot-Krieg, Die U-Boot-Fahrer, Zu Tode gesiegt). But I hadn´t the chance yet to read "Jäger im Weltmeer", that he wrote during the war.

Apart from "Das Boot" I guess "Die Festung" is one of the best books I´ve ever read. It almost knocked me down. The experiences/adventures (true or not), that he made in France, were totally overwhelming. But I enjoyed especially his description of the landscape of the Normandy and Brittany. Just great. He´s truly a highly gifted author.

What about you? Have you ever had the opportunity for reading his trilogy? Is it available in the U.S.? If not, it´s a pity.

Your wish to translate the book is great, but it would probably last month or years. So I hope for you there will be an English version someday.

If you ever should have a problem resp. questions regarding translation, I would be pleased to assist you.
