New DVD is Epic to say the least! I am an avid U-Boat fan and work in the Home Theatre Industry. You might be surprised to know: The new "long" version is almost as good visually as the SuperBit version (which is a "souped up" transfer of the "Directors Cut"). The superbit DTS German soundtrack sounds the best. So now you have some choices...the total epic in what many people are saying is accurate sub-titles with above average sound/picture. Or the "director cut"(still plenty of Das Boot to sink your teeth into) with very good picture/very good sound. This will make you throw away your VHS copy immediately or sooner! I wish I could invite you all over to hear the full blown DTS version on the speakers we have in our "demo" theatre. You almost feel the spray in the bridge scenes. Enjoy!!
