Greetings,
This forum has been so quiet for so long that I am forced to abandon decorum and write about a movie that's so dreadful, it's almost an art form in itself. This is "Der Skipper", called "Kill Cruise" in English, starring Jürgen Prochnow in arguably the worst role of his downhill-sliding career since he sold his soul to Hollywood. It's not a new movie but I just saw it for the first time, out of curiosity. The opening is eerily similar to "Das Boot" both in sound effects and visuals, including a green-blue screen and Sonar noises, with no connection at all to the rest of the story. Later there are a few shots, such as that of a suddenly looming ship on a collision course (for all the world like that shot of the destroyer in D which make you say "Hey, wait a minute! What are they doing here?" or perhaps something less printable.
The rest of the movie is just a lot of crap with bimbos on a pretty wooden ketch which never seems to heel no matter how hard the wind blows.
Has anyone else groaned his or her way through this mess?
Regards,
Meg
