This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.

Dan and Robert, both of you are speaking from personal experience of subs (which grabs MY attention!)and the fact that you like this film must mean that it's accurate enough, technically speaking, to engage you as audience members and not distract you with mistakes. This is what I would have guessed from the history of both the book and the movie, but it's nice to have that guess confirmed by seasoned submariners.
Another nice, understated moment in the film is when the LI tells the other officers what needs to be done to put the boat back in working order, and how long it will take. The Captain asks, "Is there enough oxygen?" and, after a tiny pause, the LI quietly says, "No."
Breathing happily above water (and ground),
Meg
