Yes! A wonderful, absorbing book. It's never been traslated into English (or any other language) according to a letter I received from Herr Buchheim in 2002. I have a dream of doing it myself, but haven't gotten around to it somehow. eye rolling smiley

The language is quite straightforward (even the descriptive parts, of which there are indeed many) and someone with a couple of solid years of German study behind him/her should be able to get through, with the help of a good dictionary and perseverence. I found the book very compelling, and got through all 1464 pages, working doggedly along, in about six weeks, reading it every night.
