Congratulations, Brian! How lovely! I envy you your grandparent status; it will be at least a two-year wait for me, say my daughter and son-in-law.
As for naval officers getting drunk and collapsing in the loo, I believe Buchheim was writing from experience as regards that one man, who may have been a rare exception. Never having been in the Navy myself, I can't say!
Our present governor is a sore trial to anyone who would like health care or education to get any government assistance at all; he's all in favor of cutting even the meager amount of money that's currently going to the schools, and thinks that businesses shouldn't have to offer health insurance to their employees. Personally, I can't wait to say "Hasta la vista, Baby," to HIM.
