kurt, et al:
According to James Rusbridger author of "WHO SANK SURCOUF:
The Truth About the Disappearance of the Pride of the French Navy", SURCOUF had no means to fuel any other submarine or
U-boat.
She was France's "White Elephant" and never fired her 8" guns or
fired any of her torpedoes in anger. She was constantly in the
dockyard for repairs and there were no spares available for her
equipm=ent; just a one-of-a-kind poorly designed monster.
No nation could supply her with torpedoes, because of their odd sizes and configuration. She carried only 150 rounds of 8" ammo
per gun, and no nation could provide that ammo either.
