Band of Brothers was released by HBO, I think, it's been shown twice on the BBC, the second time as a tribut to Stephen Ambrose, on his death. Thi second showing was the only time I got to see it all the way through.
Personally, I found it to be superior to SPR, probably on account of it being based on actual incidents and showing German soldiers in a more equal light than SPR, which I consider to have every cliche from a 1940s propaganda film, though the Omaha landing at the beginning rates as one of the more authentic recreations (though showing ghastly imagery of course) I have seen in a war film.
I am sure that the BoB series is available on DVD if you haven't seen it - it's worth looking out for.
