I have a collegue who uses tha main theme from Das Boot as her cellular ring tone. I doubt very much that she knows where it originated, but I don't know where she got it. Did it come with the phone? Did she download it somewhere just because she liked it? I have no clue.

On a related note, the "new e-mail just arrived" notification sound that I use at work, a few seconds of Morse code, also comes from Das Boot. Of course, I for one did extract this bit on purpose myself. If I turn up the volume, some of the background noise in the boat can also be heard, but at the default setting only the beeps are audible, so all my office mates know is that "it's a bit morse code".
