Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
finally got the said documentary and may report that the DVD on the history of the German uboats from 1914 – 1945 doesn’t come up with any new (“ancientâ€) pictures not already been seen.
What might be interesting are the rather lengthy interviews with Topp, Kretchmer et.al.. Both are asked why they joined the uboat – arm and gave their respective personal views; then Kretchmar was asked, for what reasons he lost his boat, he explained and then in course of describing said, he believed Prien being sunk by one of his own torpedoes.
Anyway I just talked to POLAR – Film and they told me as of right now they are negotiating with an American distributor who wants theses DVDs licensed for the English – speaking market and would make sure a good English version would be available probably in the first quarter of next year.
You all have a nice day.
Sincerely Yours
