Thank you Pat W for your information about the English version of the novel. I'd like to read it as soon as possible. However,I'm much too busy now.Maybe I won't be able to pick it up until next February.
Meg,
I am sure that IWO survived the air raid. After some of the crewmembers had entered the shelter,it was he who took care of the injured Bosun when Schwalle left for medic help.I think the Bosun was just badly wounded, but didn't die.
It didn't show Hinrich survived or not.We could see he got injured and was carried by Ario, and they didn't manage to reach the shelter. But I don't think it means they died.
In my opinion, both the Bosun and Hinrich were quite importent characters. If the movie didn't show their bodies through Werner's eyes,it means they survived, though badly wounded.
Regards.
